Local privilege escalation via sched driver use-after-free
Published Jul 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Use-after-free in MediaTek's sched driver on Android 11.0 and 12.0 allows local users to escalate privileges through improper locking. Improper locking leaves freed sched-driver memory accessible, producing the use-after-free condition. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges but no user interaction, and successful abuse grants higher local privileges.
