Local privilege escalation via TEEI use-after-free race
Published Jul 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Use-after-free in the MediaTek TEEI driver on Android 11.0 and 12.0 allows local users with System privileges to escalate privileges. A race in the TEEI driver permits an object to be freed while another execution path still uses it; MediaTek does not identify the function. Exploitation requires System execution privileges but no user interaction, and successful abuse elevates local privileges.
