Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek Modem 2G RR LR9, LR11, LR12, LR12A, LR13, NR15, and NR16 allows remote attackers to execute code. Its GPRS Packet Neighbour Cell Data decoder accepts an improper neighbouring-cell size without a bounds check and writes beyond the intended buffer. A crafted PNCD message reaches the flaw over the cellular network without authentication, execution privileges, or user interaction.
