Heap memory disclosure or crash via negative batch_dim
Published Feb 3, 2022 · Updated May 5, 2025
An out-of-bounds read in affected TensorFlow releases allows remote authenticated users to expose heap memory or crash a process via ReverseSequence. The ReverseSequence shape function rejects batch_dim values at or above the input rank but passes negative values to Dim, where an overly negative index reads before the dimensions array. Exploitation requires the ability to submit and execute a graph containing the raw operation; the bounded impacts are heap disclosure and process termination.
