Browser script execution via decoded entity rendering
Published Jan 24, 2022 · Updated Apr 22, 2025
Cross-site scripting in StarCitizenTools ShortDescription before 2.3.4 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in visitors' browsers. ParserHooks.php decodes HTML entities only after stripping literal tags, and output paths then render the resulting text without escaping it. Exploitation requires a visitor to view an affected page or action=info output, allowing attacker-controlled script execution in that browser.
