CVE-2022-21687Network attack vector

Arbitrary file read via database DSN injection

Published Feb 1, 2022 · Updated May 5, 2025

Improper input validation in GitHub gh-ost before 1.1.3 allows attackers to read local files via a crafted database argument. The main function passes the -database value into a MySQL DSN without escaping delimiters, allowing injected DSN options to expose files to an attacker-controlled server. Exploitation requires host access or an administrator who runs the crafted command, plus connectivity from gh-ost to the malicious MySQL server.
