Account takeover via stale sessions
Published Jan 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Insufficient session expiration in Shopware 5.7.3 through 5.7.6 allows remote authenticated users to retain access after a password change. Shopware's session validation accepts sessions created before the account's latest password change instead of invalidating them. An attacker who obtains an authenticated session can continue using the customer account until normal expiry; changing the password alone does not revoke it.
