CVE-2022-21558

SYSTEM privilege escalation via unsafe MSI repair

Published Jul 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 24, 2024

Local privilege escalation in Oracle Crystal Ball 11.1.2.0.000 through 11.1.2.4.900 allows local users to obtain SYSTEM privileges. A Windows Installer repair executes temporary files from the initiating user's TEMP directory under SYSTEM. Any authenticated local user can trigger the cached MSI repair, and successful exploitation grants SYSTEM-level control.
