CVE-2022-21541Network attack vector

Unauthenticated modification of critical accessible data

Published Jul 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 23, 2024

HotSpot sandbox failure in affected Oracle Java SE and GraalVM releases allows remote attackers to modify critical data via multiple protocols. Oracle identifies the HotSpot component but has not published the faulty function, input-validation failure, or other code-level mechanism. Exploitation requires untrusted code in a sandboxed Java Web Start application or applet, or attacker-controlled data reaching affected HotSpot APIs through a service; affected releases are Java SE 7u343, 8u333, 11.0.15.1, 17.0.3.1, and 18.0.1.1, plus GraalVM Enterprise Edition 20.3.6, 21.3.2, and 22.1.0.
