Authenticated file placement via path traversal
Published Jan 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 24, 2024
Path traversal in Oracle Enterprise Session Border Controller 8.4 and 9.0 allows remote authenticated users to write files via the WebUI. The configuration-file download handler accepts ../ sequences in its client-supplied output filename and writes the selected file outside the intended directory. Low-privileged WebUI access is sufficient, and successful exploitation can create, delete, or modify critical data accessible to the appliance.
