Partial service interruption via serialized exception validation
Published Jan 19, 2022 · Updated May 27, 2026
Improper input validation in Oracle Java SE 7u321, 8u311, 11.0.13, and 17.0.1 allows remote attackers to cause a partial service interruption. ObjectInputStream insufficiently validates serialized exception data, allowing crafted streams to bypass jdk.serialFilter deserialization restrictions. Exposure requires untrusted sandboxed code or application code that passes attacker-controlled data to Serialization APIs; Oracle has not disclosed whether the interruption is a hang or crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
