CVE-2022-21336

Cluster takeover via Data Node heap overflow

Published Jan 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 24, 2024

Heap-based buffer overflow in Oracle MySQL Cluster allows attackers to take over affected clusters through crafted Data Node job data. The Data Node job processor copies attacker-controlled data into a heap buffer without first validating its length, enabling service-account code execution. Oracle requires high privileges on the physical communication segment and another person's interaction; affected releases are 7.4.34 and earlier, 7.5.24 and earlier, 7.6.20 and earlier, and 8.0.27 and earlier.
