CVE-2022-21322

Service-account code execution via heap buffer overflow

Published Jan 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 24, 2024

Heap-based buffer overflow in Oracle MySQL Cluster 8.0.27 and earlier allows attackers to take over the cluster through Data Node jobs. The Data Node job processor copies user-supplied data into a heap buffer without validating its length, enabling code execution as the service account. Oracle rates exploitation as requiring high privileges, adjacent-network access, and interaction by another person; successful exploitation compromises the entire cluster.
