Cluster takeover via out-of-bounds Data Node write
Published Jan 19, 2022 · Updated Sep 24, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Oracle MySQL Cluster allows local users to execute code as the service account through crafted Data Node jobs. Data Node job processing fails to validate user-supplied array indices before writing, causing memory corruption beyond the array boundary. Oracle’s assessment requires a high-privileged infrastructure logon and interaction by another person; successful exploitation takes over the cluster.
