Denial of service via incomplete deserialization checks
Published Jan 19, 2022 · Updated May 27, 2026
Denial of service in Oracle Java SE Libraries in 7u321, 8u311, 11.0.13, and 17.0.1 allows remote attackers to interrupt service. The StringBuffer and StringBuilder deserialization logic fails to validate the serialized count value, allowing inconsistent object state. Exposure requires untrusted serialized input through sandboxed code or an application API, and successful exploitation disrupts availability without reported data access or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
