CVE-2022-2123Network attack vector

Arbitrary settings update via missing nonce validation

Published Jul 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Cross-Site Request Forgery in WP Opt-in through 1.4.1 allows remote attackers to change plugin settings via a forged request. The wpoi_init_action() function accepts settings updates without validating a WordPress nonce, so a crafted cross-site request is processed as an administrator action. An unauthenticated attacker must trick a logged-in site administrator into clicking a link or otherwise submitting the request; successful changes can alter plugin behavior and enable spam email sending.
