CVE-2022-21227Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application crash via invalid object coercion

Published May 1, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Uncaught exception handling in Ghost Foundation node-sqlite3 5.0.0 through 5.0.2 allows attackers to crash a Node.js application. In src/statement.cc, binding an object parameter calls its toString method and converts the result to UTF-8 without checking for a valid value. The flaw is reachable when a parent application passes an attacker-controlled invalid object into a SQLite statement parameter, and the resulting fatal V8 error cannot be caught.
