CVE-2022-21158

Arbitrary script execution via javascript-scheme links

Published Mar 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Stored XSS in MarkText before 0.17.0 allows attackers to execute arbitrary script through a javascript-scheme link in a document. The document-link handler accepts the javascript URI scheme rather than rejecting or neutralizing it before rendering. Exploitation requires a user to interact with a crafted document; the script then runs in the desktop application's context.
