Adjacent code execution via malformed discovery packets

Stack overflow in Cisco SIP phone firmware 14.2 and earlier allows attackers to execute code or interrupt service via crafted CDP packets. The Cisco Discovery Protocol processing feature insufficiently validates received packets before handling them, allowing attacker-controlled data to overflow the stack. Exploitation requires Layer 2 adjacency and no authentication or user action; success can execute code or interrupt service on the affected phone.
