Image upload via nonce-free AJAX request
Published Jul 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Cache Images before 3.2.1 allows remote attackers to upload images through a logged-in user's browser. The cache_images_ajax() handler accepts attacker-chosen action, URL, and post ID values through admin-ajax.php without validating an anti-CSRF nonce. A remote attacker must lure a logged-in WordPress user into submitting the forged request, which imports an attacker-selected image into the site's media library.
