Root privilege escalation via rescue-user CLI payload
Published Jul 21, 2022 · Updated Nov 1, 2024
Privilege escalation in Cisco Nexus Dashboard before 2.2(1e) allows local users authenticated as rescue-user to gain root access. The affected CLI command path insufficiently validates a malicious payload supplied through the rescue-user account before privileged execution. Exploitation requires authenticated local rescue-user access and grants root privileges; Cisco has not identified the individual vulnerable commands.
