Root-level code execution via unchecked HTTP fields
Published Jul 21, 2022 · Updated Nov 6, 2024
Buffer overflow in Cisco Small Business RV router web interfaces allows remote authenticated users to execute root-level code or reboot devices. The interface fails to validate the size of user-controlled fields in crafted HTTP packets, enabling a classic buffer overflow. Valid Administrator credentials are required; reachability is always available from the LAN and from the WAN only when remote management is enabled.
