CVE-2022-20893Network attack vector

Authenticated command execution via unchecked HTTP fields

Published Jul 21, 2022 · Updated Nov 1, 2024

Improper input validation in Cisco RV routers allows remote authenticated users to execute commands or restart devices via crafted HTTP requests. The web management interface accepts user fields in incoming HTTP packets without sufficient validation, enabling command injection that runs with root-level privileges or triggers a reload. Valid Administrator credentials are required, and remote WAN reachability depends on the optional remote-management setting; LAN access is always available.
