Authenticated root command execution via CLI injection
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Nov 6, 2024
Command injection in the Cisco FXOS CLI allows local users with Administrator privileges to execute operating-system commands as root. The CLI passes crafted command input to the underlying operating system without sufficient validation or neutralization. Administrator access to an affected Firepower 4100 Series or Firepower 9300 Security Appliance is required, and successful exploitation grants root-level command execution.
