Root command execution via web UI API
Published Sep 30, 2022 · Updated Nov 1, 2024
Command injection in Cisco IOS XE Software with the web UI enabled allows remote authenticated users to execute root commands via its API. The web UI API insufficiently validates crafted input before passing it into an operating-system command, but Cisco has not disclosed the affected parameter or code locus. Administrator privileges and an enabled HTTP or HTTPS server are required, and successful exploitation grants root-level command execution.
