CVE-2022-20828Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root command execution via session do injection

Published Jun 24, 2022 · Updated Nov 1, 2024

Command injection in Cisco FirePOWER Services Software for ASA allows remote authenticated users to execute root commands via crafted CLI input. The CLI parser passes an undefined parameter supplied to the session do command into the module’s Linux shell, where backticks trigger command substitution. Exploitation requires ASA administrative access and a FirePOWER module in lockdown mode; HTTPS delivery also requires enabled management access.
