Root command execution via crafted update response
Published Aug 10, 2022 · Updated Nov 1, 2024
Command injection in affected Cisco RV160, RV260, RV340, and RV345 firmware allows remote attackers to execute commands as root. The wfapp web-filter database updater composes a system call from an attacker-controlled string in a crafted update-server response without sufficient validation. The documented attack path requires network adjacency and a crafted server response; authentication is not required, and exploitation yields root command execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
