CVE-2022-20812Network attack vector

Authenticated root file overwrite via path traversal

Published Jul 6, 2022 · Updated Nov 6, 2024

Arbitrary file overwrite in Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS) Expressway before 14.0.7 allows remote authenticated users with Administrator read-write privileges to overwrite operating-system files. The cluster database API accepts user-supplied command arguments without sufficient validation, allowing absolute path traversal and root-level writes. Exploitation requires administrative application access and can alter confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the appliance.
