CVE-2022-20811Network attack vector

Admin-to-root escalation via xAPI path traversal

Published Oct 26, 2022 · Updated Oct 25, 2024

Path traversal in the video endpoint xAPI in Cisco RoomOS allows remote authenticated users to read and write arbitrary device files. The xAPI insufficiently validates user-supplied path input before using it for file operations, so crafted requests escape intended directories. An Administrator account is required, and successful exploitation exposes or modifies arbitrary files and escalates device privileges from admin to root.
