Authenticated message injection via unchecked conversation identifier
Published Aug 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
IDOR in Automattic Sensei LMS before 4.5.2 allows remote authenticated users to post messages into arbitrary private conversations. The wp-comments-post.php handler accepts a user-controlled comment_post_ID without verifying that the sender is the teacher or original sender. Any authenticated account can inject message content into a selected conversation, but cannot read exchanges between the teacher and student.
