CVE-2022-20779Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root command execution via unsanitized image metadata

Published May 4, 2022 · Updated Nov 6, 2024

Command injection in Cisco Enterprise NFVIS before 4.7.1 allows remote attackers to execute root commands through a crafted VM image. The image registration process runs qemu-img info on the image and places its unsanitized backing-file output into a later shell command. Exploitation requires an administrator to register the attacker-supplied image, after which injected commands can compromise the NFVIS host.
