CVE-2022-20777Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Guest-to-host root execution via permissive NGIO firewall

Published May 4, 2022 · Updated Nov 6, 2024

Improper access control in Cisco Enterprise NFVIS before 4.7.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute root commands on the host. The NGIO firewall trusts traffic from 192.168.10.12, letting a guest VM assigned that address reach an internal host API whose vCPU parameter permits command injection. Access to a configured guest VM and the NGIO network path is required; successful exploitation grants complete root-level control of the NFVIS host.
