CVE-2022-20776

Administrator-to-root escalation via xAPI path traversal

Published Oct 26, 2022 · Updated Oct 25, 2024

Path traversal in Cisco RoomOS allows local users with Administrator access to read or write arbitrary files through the video endpoint xAPI. The xAPI fails to validate user-supplied path input before resolving file operations, permitting directory traversal outside intended locations. An Administrator account and local access are required; successful exploitation can elevate the account to root without a reported availability impact.
