CVE-2022-20767Network attack vector

Traffic denial via UDP connection buildup

Published May 3, 2022 · Updated Nov 6, 2024

Denial of service in Cisco Firepower Threat Defense 6.7.0 through 7.1.0 allows remote attackers to drop transit traffic via crafted UDP packets. The Snort 3 rule-evaluation path mishandles DNS reputation enforcement, allowing crafted UDP traffic to force a buildup of UDP connections. Exploitation requires Snort 3 with DNS reputation enforcement enabled; the resulting resource exhaustion drops traffic traversing the device.
