Security Intelligence DNS bypass via feed update mishandling
Published May 3, 2022 · Updated Nov 6, 2024
Improper data handling in Cisco Firepower Threat Defense Software allows remote attackers to bypass Security Intelligence DNS filtering. The Security Intelligence feed update path processes feed data incorrectly, leaving traffic that should match the DNS feed unblocked. Exploitation requires traffic to traverse an affected device with the DNS feed enforcing policy and permits that traffic to reach protected systems.
