CVE-2022-20728

Adjacent packet injection via native-VLAN forwarding

Published Sep 30, 2022 · Updated Nov 6, 2024

Access-control bypass in Cisco Aironet Access Point Software allows attackers to inject traffic from native into nonnative VLANs. The AP client-forwarding logic accepts packets received on the native VLAN and forwards them to a wireless client in a nonnative VLAN when addressed to that client's MAC/IP combination. Exploitation requires access to the AP's native VLAN and no authentication; successful injection defeats VLAN separation and can bypass deployed Layer 3 protections.
