CVE-2022-20721Network attack vector

Arbitrary file read via unvalidated API paths

Published Apr 15, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Path traversal in Cisco IOx on Cisco IOS allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary host files through the IOx API. The API insufficiently validates path-bearing command arguments before resolving requested files on the host device filesystem. Exploitation requires high-privilege API authentication and exposes file contents without reported modification or service interruption.
