CVE-2022-20701Known exploitation

Root code execution via overprivileged confd_cli

Published Feb 10, 2022 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Privilege escalation in Cisco RV340 and RV345 Series Router Firmware 1.0.03.24 and earlier allows local users to execute code as root. The confd_cli utility executes user commands at an unnecessarily high privilege level instead of preserving the caller's low privilege. Exploitation requires prior ability to execute low-privileged code locally; successful use provides root-level command execution without reported availability impact.
