CVE-2022-20690

CDP database corruption via unchecked message lengths

Published Dec 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper length validation in Cisco ATA 190 Series firmware allows attackers to corrupt its CDP database with a crafted CDP message. The CDP message parser fails to validate length fields before reading packet data, causing an out-of-bounds read and corruption of the internal CDP database. Exploitation requires unauthenticated Layer 2 access to the same broadcast domain; the documented consequence is loss of integrity in that database.
