CDP service restart via unvalidated header lengths
Published Dec 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
An out-of-bounds read in Cisco Discovery Protocol handling in Cisco ATA 190 Series firmware allows remote attackers to restart the service. The firmware fails to validate lengths in selected CDP packet header fields before reading packet data. The attacker must share the device's Layer 2 broadcast domain; a successful packet causes an unexpected CDP service restart.
