Traffic-inspection hang via Modbus integer overflow

Integer overflow in the Snort Modbus preprocessor in affected Cisco products allows remote attackers to hang the Snort process. The preprocessor overflows an integer while parsing crafted Modbus traffic that traverses a device with Modbus inspection enabled. The attack requires no authentication; a successful request stops Snort traffic inspection, while Cyber Vision retains deep packet inspection and anomaly detection.
