Device reload via unvalidated 802.1X trap parameters
Published Apr 15, 2022 · Updated Nov 6, 2024
Denial of service in Cisco IOS XE Wireless Controller Software allows physically proximate attackers to reload devices via crafted 802.1X packets. SNMP trap generation fails to validate parameters from a wireless client connection event before processing them. Exploitation requires wireless proximity, an 802.1X packet during authentication setup, and enabled client-exclusion SNMP traps, which are disabled by default.
