Command injection in Cisco ASR 5000 Series Software allows local users with administrative credentials to execute arbitrary code as root. The StarOS CLI insufficiently validates crafted commands before execution; Cisco has not disclosed the affected parser or command syntax. Exploitation requires valid administrative credentials and local CLI access, after which injected code runs with root privileges.
