Password disclosure via cleartext flash storage

Cleartext credential storage in Cisco Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Software allows physically proximate attackers to recover phone passwords. The phone firmware writes the administrative phone password without encryption or a suitable cryptographic hash in multiple flash-memory locations. Exploitation requires desoldering and reading a flash chip; recovered shared passwords grant access to administrative settings on other phones.
