CVE-2022-20631Network attack vector

Script execution via unvalidated chat messages

Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Cisco Enterprise Chat and Email before 12.6(1)_ES1 allows remote attackers to execute script through chat messages. The management interface stores chat-window input without properly validating it, so a victim's browser executes attacker-supplied script in the interface context. An unauthenticated attacker can submit the payload remotely, but a user must view the affected chat content; resulting access is limited to script actions and sensitive browser-based information.
