Access-key disclosure via plaintext XML serialization
Published Jan 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Credential exposure in Jenkins Metrics Plugin 4.0.2.8 and earlier allows local users to read an API access key from controller storage. The MetricsAccessKey descriptor holds each key as a String, causing Jenkins serialization to write the value in clear text to jenkins.metrics.api.MetricsAccessKey.xml. Access requires read permission to the controller file system; disclosure grants the bearer the Metrics servlet permissions assigned to that key.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
