Local privilege escalation via radio stack corruption
Published Dec 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 18, 2025
Memory corruption in Android's rild_exynos radio service allows local users with System privileges to escalate privileges without interaction. RadioImpl::setGsmBroadcastConfig in ril_service_legacy.cpp causes a stack clash while processing GSM broadcast configuration data, corrupting memory. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges on an affected Pixel device and can elevate local privilege without user interaction.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
