Installed-app disclosure via UID return discrepancy
Published Dec 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 18, 2025
Observable discrepancy in Android 13 PermissionManager allows local users to determine whether a target app is installed. The revokeOwnPermissionsOnKill path exposes the target package UID as -1 when absent and a positive value when present. Any local app can probe this difference without package-query permission or user interaction, disclosing only installation status.
