CVE-2022-20547

Local privilege escalation via unchecked Bluetooth methods

Published Dec 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Missing authorization in Android 13 AdapterService allows local users to elevate privileges by manipulating Bluetooth state. Several Bluetooth binder methods directly invoked service operations without checking that the caller was the active system user or held BLUETOOTH_CONNECT and BLUETOOTH_PRIVILEGED permissions. A low-privileged local app can reach the affected methods without user interaction, including starting or stopping RFCOMM listeners and retrieving pending sockets.
