Guest privilege escalation via Wi-Fi settings bypass
Published Dec 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025
Missing authorization in Android 13 Settings allows local users with guest access to change restricted Wi-Fi settings without interaction. ConfigureWifiSettings initializes Wi-Fi preference controllers without first rejecting guest users, exposing controls that the patch suppresses for guest sessions. A guest session is required; the demonstrated consequence is modification of Wi-Fi configuration rather than arbitrary code execution.
